Healthcare clinicians bear witness to significant human suffering while providing comprehensive care to complex patients with life-threatening or life-limiting illnesses. Their exposure to ethical challenges makes them vulnerable to moral distress and ultimately burnout, causing many healthcare professionals to leave their profession. This presentation will describe signs and symptoms of burnout and provide participants with emerging evidence to inform system and personal interventions that may be used to combat clinician burnout, such as a personal “treatment plan of action."
