History of Medicine
in Rochester
The
library at the Rochester Academy of Medicine contains many taped interviews of
Rochester area physicians. These were done in conjunction with the library
committee, James Stewart, M.D., chair. The interviews were done from 1997
through 2000 and are available for review or loan. These tapes archive the remembrances
of the various physicians about the early days of medicine in Rochester and
collectively paint an interesting picture of medicine as practiced then. Six of
these interviews have been transcribed to print and will be available here.
