Ryan Johnson assumed the role of Executive Director in January of 2023. Under his leadership The Rochester Academy of Medicine will continue carry on the rich tradition that the Academy has laid forth, focusing on the Mission and Vision and staying true to the core values of Collaboration, Integrity, Leadership and Diversity.
Prior to joining the Academy of Medicine, Johnson served as the Director of Operations for the Hospitalist Department for Rochester Regional Health for the past six years. In this role, Johnson was responsible for ensuring the nine hospitals in the health system were all functioning at their highest level to best serve the patients of upstate New York. Further, in this role Johnson saw firsthand how vital collaboration among all the healthcare providers and systems is to be able to provide care to the community. Johnson see's The Academy of Medicine as integral part of the fabric of the Rochester Healthcare community and their mission of collaboration across all lines of distinction within healthcare organizations is one Johnson is focusing on breaking down, allowing everyone involved with delivering healthcare to Rochesterians to have voice in how that care is delivered.
Johnson graduated from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL with a bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration and is currently working towards his Master’s Degree in Healthcare Policy and Leadership at the University of Denver.
Johnson was born outside of Boston, Massachusetts and raised in Seneca Falls, NY. He now lives in Pittsford with his wife, Kalie and their three children, Reese, Georgia, and McCoy. In his personal time, you can find Johnson golfing, enjoying the outdoors, and spending time with his young family.
